myspace agreement change

I saw on the Digital Music News blog that myspace have changed their terms of agreement to reflect artist ownership of their content. Apparently myspace do not now lay any claim to artists' content and have clarified their position with the latest version of the agreement. This follows a move by Billy Bragg to remove his content from myspace in protest of the previous claims made in the terms of agreement.

Good news for artists everywhere!

Have you seen this month's (July 2006) edition of Wired Magazine? The cover story article is on Rupert Murdoch and his plans for (his newly acquired) MySpace. Read the article here. The title of the article is "His Space" and begins: "With the $580 million purchase of MySpace, News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch is betting he can transform a free social network into a colossal marketing machine". An interesting (and worrying?) read.

And now more! August 8th 2006 BBCNews: "Google signs $900m deal with NewsCorp": Google is to provide search and advertising on MySpace.com and other websites owned by NewsCorp. Read more at: http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5254642.stm
A good move for MySpace?
